1932 First National Conference on Office Management. Setting up of the Office Management Association.
1933 First OMA Survey of Office Practices & Salaries published
1936 Change of name to The Institute of Office Management
1942 First Clerical Salaries analysis published, in conjunction with the London School of Economics
1946 Launch of Examination Scheme in conjunction with Regent Street Polytechnic, London
1948 Launch of members Journal
1971 Launch of Office of the Year Award
1972 Change of name to The Institute of Administrative Management
1976 Office Job Evaluation Handbook published
1977 Introduction of iam Medal
1988 Launch of modular qualifying scheme
1989 Introduction of iam Certificate of Commendation
1994 Launch of Continuing Professional Development Scheme

Launch of iam Academic Dress

Inaugural Graduation ceremonies in Hong Kong and the City of London

2003 Strategic Collaborations with (Bursars) NCSL & IACSA and the launch of the BA (Hons) in Strategic Administrative Management.
2004 Launch of the new Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Strategic Administrative Degree awarded by Oxford Brookes.

2006 Introduction of several new programmes:

September 2007, the iam forged a strategic alliance with the Council for Administration
